Understanding Chrysler's SafetyTec Plus Group Features

While driving a luxury vehicle with all the latest features and driver amenities is enjoyable, all those options are pointless if your vehicle isn't equipped with a reliable safety system. Chrysler has created Chrysler SafetyTec Plus in response: a group of driver assistance safety and security features that protect drivers and passengers on the road. more Advanced Brake Assist Advanced brake assist is one of the Chrysler safety features that automatically increases brake force to mitigate or prevent a collision. It works in combination with the full-speed collision warning with active braking system and gives drivers peace of mind that if they cannot control their vehicle, it will work on their behalf to do it for them. Adaptive Cruise Control With Stop Adaptive cruise control with stop helps maintain a safe vehicle distance within a lane to prevent collisions. It controls the throttle and the brake and can also use force when necessary to activate the brake in the event of a potential collision. Full-Speed Forward Collision Warning With Active Braking The full-speed forward collision warning with an active braking system provides drivers with alerts if they drive too close to a vehicle. It also activates the brakes to prevent them from rear-ending the vehicle in front of them. Rain-Sensing Windshield Wipers Rain-sensing windshield wipers may seem to be more of an amenity, but they're important safety features. They automatically activate if the sensors detect rain on the windshield, which gives drivers clear vision and allows for automatic rain clearing. LaneSense Lane Departure Warning With Lane Keep Assist This safety feature provides drivers with alerts, letting them know when they have drifted over the designated lane markers. If drivers don't respond to the alerts, the system will respond on their behalf and adjust their vehicle accordingly. ParkSense Front and Rear Park Assist The ParkSense front and rear park assist system acts as an extra set of eyes at low speeds when parking and alerts drivers so that they don't hit stationary objects when entering or exiting a parking area. Auto High-Beam Headlamp Control This safety feature works by adjusting the brightness of the headlights after the sensors evaluate the surrounding conditions to ensure adequate illumination. It also lowers the glare on the front lighting when a vehicle approaches to prevent any safety hazards. If you want to learn more about the additional safety features available in the new Chrysler vehicles, our team can give you more information and help you explore all the latest models. Visit Ed Martin Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Anderson, IN, to explore our inventory and learn more about our new vehicle incentives and offers.

The Importance of Getting Preventative Maintenance at Your CDJR Dealer

For Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and RAM owners, getting preventative maintenance done at the dealership provides numerous benefits. Preventive maintenance involves regularly scheduled inspections, parts replacements, and vehicle care by a certified dealer. Let's look at the importance of getting your car maintained at your Chrysler dealer. more Detect and Solve Minor Issues During preventive maintenance visits, your dealer's technicians conduct visual checks and use advanced diagnostic tools to scan for hidden issues. These tests can reveal minor issues before they worsen and lead to costly repairs. For example, they will perform the following checks on your vehicle: Check all fluid levels Inspect timing belts and hoses Inspect suspension parts like shocks, struts, and ball joints Check the emissions system Test the battery These tests will catch minor leaks, abnormal wear, and component damage early, allowing for prompt repairs. If you need replacement parts, the technicians will use original factory components to ensure optimal vehicle performance. Improve Safety and Reliability Regular maintenance improves your vehicle's safety and reliability, leading to a better driving experience. The technicians will inspect safety components like brake pads, brake pedals, and rotors to check for wear and tear. They will recommend replacement of worn-out parts to ensure smooth and reliable braking. CDJR technicians also check the tires and perform scheduled tire rotations, inflation, and balancing to improve the vehicle's handling. They can use the OBD2 scanner to read trouble codes for other safety components like airbags and sensors. This allows prompt repairs, which enhances the reliability of the vehicle's safety systems. Prevent Unexpected Breakdowns Through routine diagnostic scans and visual checks, your CDJR technicians pinpoint issues that could potentially lead to breakdowns. For example, testing the battery can save you from being stranded with a dead battery. The technicians will also examine belts, hoses, and electronics that could fail without warning. Does Your Jeep Need New Headlights?

If you're a Jeep owner, you know that your vehicle is more than just a means of transportation: it's a ticket to adventure. But whether you're cruising through city streets or tackling rugged trails, having effective and reliable headlights is essential for safe driving. It's not uncommon for headlights to wear out or become less effective over time, so how can you tell if you need new headlights from the Jeep dealer? Let's shed some light on it. more Dimming Lights The first indicator that your Jeep might need a new set of headlights is a noticeable dimming of the lights. This is typically due to the regular wear and tear of aging bulbs, which leads to reduced brightness. If your headlights seem weaker than they should be, it could either be a simple case of needing new bulbs or a more complex issue with the Jeep's electrical system. Flickering Headlights Another common issue is flickering headlights. If your headlights randomly change intensity or flicker, this could be due to a loose connection, a failing bulb, or an alternator problem. In such cases, it's best to get a professional inspection to determine the exact cause and solution. Yellow or Cloudy Lenses Over time, your headlights' lenses may become cloudy or yellowed, a problem primarily caused by oxidation from UV exposure and environmental factors. It may be possible to reduce the problem with headlight restoration, but severe cases might require replacing the entire headlight unit instead. Moisture Inside the Headlights If you see water on the inside of your headlights, it is cause for concern. Usually, this means the seal is broken, and once moisture has entered, it can cause further damage to the headlights. If you notice condensation or water droplets inside the lens, you will probably need to replace the headlight assembly to prevent further issues. Misaligned Beams If your headlights point in the wrong direction, they may need a realignment. Uneven beams of light can be distracting to both you and other drivers on the road, so make time for this quick and easy process. Bulbs Keep Burning Out Frequent bulb burnouts could signal an underlying electrical issue in your vehicle. If you find yourself replacing the bulbs in your headlights over and over, it's worth having a professional inspection. Get New Headlights at Your Jeep Dealer If you notice any of these symptoms, don't waste any time taking your car to the dealership. Our professional technicians can evaluate your headlights and see whether you need new ones, then perform any needed repairs to get you back out onto the road. Your Jeep's headlights play a crucial role in safe driving, especially in the dark or inclement weather. From dimming to flickering or misalignment, signs of trouble should be treated promptly to ensure your vehicle remains a reliable companion on all your adventures. Visit Ed Martin Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM to have your headlights inspected today.

Time for a New Car Battery? Visit Your Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge/RAM Dealer

It's sometimes easy to forget the importance of the battery in our cars until they stop working. Without a fully functioning battery, your vehicle's electrical accessories will rapidly fail along with the engine's starter and even the spark plugs and the engine itself. With all this in mind, here are some of the most common early indications that a new car battery is required. You can quickly pick one up at your local RAM dealership. more Your Starter Clicks But Won't Start When settling behind the wheel one day, if you turn the key or press the starter button but all you hear is a quiet clicking, then your battery may be dead. If a worn-out battery can't deliver a powerful enough surge of voltage, the starter can't start and the spark plugs can't fire. Unless you can easily jump-start your car, this might leave you stranded somewhere inconvenient. Fortunately, when a battery is dying, you should notice it getting harder and harder to start your car long before the starter fails altogether. This gives you time to rectify the problem. Your Headlights Lose Brightness One dangerous result of a failing battery is headlights starting to flicker and fade. This may leave you without proper visibility after dark. Your Electrical Accessories Falter Without a strong battery, all the other electrical accessories in your car will also stop working properly. This would include your stereo, cabin lights, air-con, heated seats, dashboard displays, phone charger, and more. Your Battery Looks Corroded Over time, the terminals at the top of a car battery can sometimes begin to corrode. This corrosion is often white or green in color and can prevent the battery from conducting electricity. Your Battery Looks Misshapen Car batteries should have perfectly flat and straight sides. If your battery's casing ever develops a bulge or becomes in any way warped out of shape, you'll need to have it replaced. Your Battery Emits a Bad Smell If a battery becomes so misshapen or damaged that it cracks open, you may smell the battery acid leaking out. This highly corrosive substance smells strongly of sulfur or rotten eggs. Your Technician Suggests a New Battery While periodically inspecting and testing your vehicle's electrical system, the technicians at your local dealership are likely to notice any signs of a failing or aging battery. They can then let you know how much longer your battery is likely to last or replace it at once if needed. Have your battery tested and replaced today by qualified technicians at Ed Martin Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram. We're a local family-owned and run dealership dedicated to providing the region's best vehicles and customer service.

An oil change alert on the dashboard of a vehicle near Anderson, Indiana.

Getting an Oil Change for Your Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge/RAM

Getting an oil change whenever you need it is essential. It's one of the most important parts of your routine maintenance, and it's a service your Chrysler, Jeep, RAM, or Dodge dealer will be more than happy to perform for you as frequently as necessary. more How Often Does Your Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge/RAM Need an Oil Change? Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, and RAM vehicles generally need oil replacements at least every 5,000 miles, though this can vary depending on the type of oil used in your vehicle. Specific models often use different oil, so you should check your manual and see what it says about how often you need an oil replacement for your model. How frequently you drive impacts how often you need to get your oil replaced, too. The average American drives between 10,000 and 15,000 miles per year, so you'll most likely need at least two oil and oil filter changes annually. Your dealer can help you create a service schedule to stay on top of oil replacements. There are also signs that can show up letting you know you need an oil replacement ASAP between scheduled service appointments. When to Head to the Chrysler, Jeep, RAM, and Dodge Dealer to Get Your Oil Replaced The Oil Quality Changes Fresh motor oil is a nice translucent amber shade. When it starts to get a little darker, then it's probably time for a top-up. If all of the oil is too dark to see through, then you need to get it changed. You'll also need a change if the oil texture is no longer smooth. For example, old, dirty motor oil often feels gritty between your fingers. The Engine Gets Noisier Because motor oil lubricates the parts of the engine, the engine can get louder when you have old, low-quality oil cycling through it. It might also make a knocking noise that tells you it's time to get that oil replaced as soon as you can. The Cabin Smells Like Motor Oil If you catch a subtle whiff of your oil in the cabin, then you need to head to the dealer as soon as possible. You might just need a top-off or an oil replacement, but there could also be a problem somewhere under the hood. The Gas Mileage Is Poor Take note of how quickly the fuel tank empties, because if you're stopping for gas more than usual, then it's time to visit the dealer. You might need an oil replacement, but lower gas mileage can be a sign of other issues, too. Visit Ed Martin Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM next time you need to get new oil for your vehicle. Our team is eager to help you out with all kinds of routine maintenance, including getting your oil replaced.

6 Car Safety Features You'll Find on Today's Chrysler Vehicles

With the aid of advanced technology, modern Chrysler cars protect and assist their drivers in a multitude of ways. Whether you're at risk of a collision, accidentally drifting out of your lane, or attempting a difficult parking spot, your Chrysler can help detect the risks and help keep you safe. The following are some of Chrysler's best current car safety features, which are available or as standard on each Chrysler model. You can find out more at your local Chrysler dealership. more Full Speed Forward Collision Warning When your vehicle has Full Speed Forward Collision Warning, you're better protected against one of the most common accident risks on the road. If your car is about to have a front-end collision with another vehicle or object, you'll receive a clear audible, and visual warning. Your car may even activate Automatic Emergency Braking to avoid the crash. LaneSense Lane Departure Warning Any unintentional drifting toward neighboring lanes is quickly detected by the LaneSense Lane Departure Warning feature. Your car will warn you of the danger and also help guide you back safely to the center of your lane. Blind Spot Monitoring Other vehicles approaching from behind, particularly motorcycles and bicycles, can sometimes be hard for a driver to notice, creating an accident hazard. With Blind Spot Monitoring, your Chrysler keeps an eye on anything entering your blind spots and alerts you when they do. ParkSense Front and Rear Park Assist Parking in tight spots can be a nail-biting moment for many drivers, putting you at risk of bumping other vehicles. With ParkSense Front and Rear Park Assist, your car visually and audibly shows you the exact distance from surrounding objects, helping to guide you accurately into any parking spot. Rear Cross-Path Detection Likewise, it can be stressful to reverse out of a parking spot with limited visibility of the road behind you. Rear Cross-Path Detection helps with this by allowing your car to observe the road in either direction. If another vehicle is approaching, you'll receive a warning, so you know to stop backing out. Adaptive Cruise Control Potential fatigue is a danger that most people face when embarking on long drives. This risk is greatly reduced with the use of Adaptive Cruise Control, which allows your car to take over driving on many highways nationwide. This takes pressure away from you, letting you rest and arrive feeling more refreshed. Your Chrysler Dealer Can Show You More These six excellent safety and driver assist features can be seen in action at your local dealership. There are several more features keeping you safer on the road in a modern Chrysler. When you visit for a test drive, ask for a full tour and demonstration of each feature. A car's AC system being serviced near Anderson, Indiana

Car AC Not Working? Visit Your Chrysler Dealer Today

Your car Ac not working is the last thing you need on a hot day. The AC system consists of numerous components which require regular servicing to keep them in good condition. If you have an AC problem, your Chrysler dealer is here to help you. These are a few signs that you need to visit us for an AC repair. more Bad Smell From the AC An earthy, musty smell from your AC is a sign that mold or bacteria have infested the system. Bacteria and mold spores are drawn into the AC through the air intake vent. They will wait in the system until your AC isn't being used over late fall and winter. During your AC's downtime, the ducts experience little air movement, allowing bacteria and mold to grow in this dark, slightly moist space. These organisms produce a foul smell, and both can cause allergic reactions. Fortunately, removing bacteria and mold is a quick and easy process. We'll pump a powerful antibacterial and anti-mold solution into the AC system, then switch on the AC and allow the solution to circulate. Your AC will be bacteria and mold-free in no time. Electrical Problems Your AC components all require electricity. Supplying this electricity involves countless wires, switches, relays, and fuses. Electrical systems suffer wear and tear over time. The constant passage of electrical current will eventually weaken electrical wiring, and this can cause breakages. Relays and switches can fail for mechanical reasons, and fuses can blow due to electrical shorts. Depending on the affected parts of the system, your AC might deliver cool air, warm air, or no air at all. A blown compressor fuse will shut the AC system down completely. Damaged fan wiring will prevent the fan from working, and cold air won't blow into your cabin. Our technicians will examine the electrical system, identify any issues, and fix them for you. Water Leak If you spot damp patches on the floor of the front passenger compartment, you could have an AC problem. During the cooling process, the water in the warmer outside air is removed. Once this is complete, the dry air is chilled and pumped into your cabin. The water that is removed collects in the evaporator heater box just below the evaporator coil. Bacteria can also lurk around the evaporator coil. Given time, the bacteria will expand and block the drain line. The drain line drains water from the heater box and allows it to drop onto the ground. When the drain line is blocked, the heater box will fill with water and excess water will drip onto the passenger side carpet. We'll fix this problem by cleaning the bacteria blockage and replacing the drain hose. An AC problem doesn't have to ruin your day. Call the experts at Ed Martin CDJR.
