Every once in a while, it’s nice to get out of our normal routines and experience something new. We might think that we have to take a long drive and spend a fortune to visit an exotic location in order to do so, but that’s definitely not true. New discoveries and thrilling events can be found right in our own backyard! To help you get out and about Anderson, IN, we’ve compiled the following list of our favorite local attractions around town.Drive Around Town: The Top 3 Local Attractions for Visitors Near Anderson, IN

1. Gruenewald Historic House

We begin our list with something that’s sure to be of interest to history lovers, but the Gruenewald house is truly for anyone who wants to get in touch with their roots and deepen their understanding of Anderson. The house is built on the site of a long-gone log cabin built by Captain John Berry. Since then, the fabulous brick townhouse has been built and turned into a museum.

Guests can tour the house either as a private party or during its open house events that are open to all members of the public. They also host several special events throughout the year, so check their website periodically so that you don’t miss any exciting educational experiences!

2. Harrah’s Hoosier Park Racing & Casino

Harrah’s casinos are known for their extravagant events, and their location in Anderson is no exception. There is something for everyone at Harrah’s, and one thing we like the most is the live racetrack. There’s really nothing quite as exciting as watching twenty horses stampeding down a track and hearing the crowd cheer for their favorites, and we think it’s an experience you can’t miss.

If horse racing isn’t your thing, not to worry. Harrah’s also has live concerts with acts like The Commodores and ABBA: The Concert, the Double R Bar, and The Shoe which serve world-class beer and cocktails, and fantastic restaurants that have amazing steaks, hamburgers, and salads. Please drink responsibly.

3. Anderson Museum of Art

The Anderson Museum of Art is the perfect place to get inspiration from artists and painters worldwide. The museum hosts a permanent gallery as well as rotating exhibitions that feature different art mediums and artists. Some of these include “Tertwine,” which showcases pieces made from fiber and textiles, “Welcome Home,” which is dedicated to American war veterans, and exhibits featuring all-female abstract artists.

For a more interactive experience, you can attend any of the classes offered by the Anderson Museum. These classes go beyond simply painting a pre-made canvas or sculpture. For example, the class on stained glass allows participants to both stain their own glass and create their own mosaic which they can gift to others or use as decoration in their own home. Check their website for more details.

A weekend running around to these different attractions will surely be a fun time that the whole family will want to come along for, and they will all fit comfortably in the new 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Come see what we have in stock at Ed Martin Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram today!
