2027 Ram 1500: Choose the Engine First, Then the Trim
The 2027 Ram 1500 comes in eleven trims, from the Tradesman work truck to the TRX. Across those trims, Ram lists a 305-hp
V-6, the 3.0L Hurricane twin-turbo inline six-cylinder (I-6) in 420-hp and 540-hp versions, and the TRX's 777-hp
supercharged V-8.
The engine you choose decides more about towing, fuel cost and price than the trim badge does, so the smart way to shop is
engine and cab first, trim second. That holds whether your truck will work a job site, pull a trailer or carry the family
here in Central Indiana. To see what's on our lot today, browse our
new Ram 1500 inventory.
Each trim's lowest manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) at launch, excluding destination, climbs with the engine
Ram lists for it. The table runs from the lowest-priced trim to the highest and shows the engine, cab and drive choices
for each.

Ram also offers the 5.7L HEMI V8 as an option, and we'll confirm which 2027 trims can be ordered with it.
Here's what each engine means for a buyer:
3.6L Pentastar V6, the value pick: the least expensive builds and the highest EPA ratings in the lineup, for commuting
and lighter trailers. Our
3.6L Pentastar V6 engine overview
covers it in more depth.
3.0L Hurricane twin-turbo, the towing pick: the engine to choose if you tow often, at the cost of a little fuel
economy. You can read more in our
3.0L Hurricane twin-turbo engine overview.
High-Output 3.0L Hurricane, the power pick: 120 hp more than the other 3.0L Hurricane, on premium fuel, with towing
above every V-6 build and below the Rebel. See our
High-Output 3.0L Hurricane engine overview.
6.2L supercharged V-8, the TRX engine: built for power rather than towing, since nearly every twin-turbo build Ram
lists out-tows the TRX.
Trims and Launch Prices

At launch, 4x4 adds $3,400 on all three trims, and the Crew Cab 5'7" costs $2,750 more than the Quad Cab. The Crew Cab
6'4" adds another $3,140 at launch and comes with the 3.0L Hurricane on all three. That build tows about 1,750 to 1,830
lb more than the same trim's V-6 Crew Cab 5'7", which makes this step the clearest case for shopping engine first.
Ram lists one build each for Warlock, Rebel, RHO, Tungsten and TRX: the Crew Cab 5'7" 4x4. Laramie, Limited and Limited
Longhorn come in several Crew Cab builds. In the table below, a dash means Ram lists no price for that build, so ask us

Tradesman and Express
Tradesman and Express share cabs, beds, engines and towing ratings, and both seat six. Express runs $2,125 above the
equivalent Tradesman at launch and adds optional Black Express Edition bucket seats, which bring seating to five. If
you're buying for a business, start with our
commercial vehicle sales and ask
about Business Link, our
program for trade and commercial buyers.
Big Horn
Big Horn offers the same six builds as Tradesman and Express, at $3,130 above the matching Express at launch. It seats
up to six, or five with the optional bucket seats, so it suits a family that wants a Crew Cab without moving to a
five-seat trim.
Warlock
Warlock comes one way, as a 4x4 Crew Cab with a 5'7" bed, and Ram lists it with the 3.6L V-6 and seating for six. A
Big Horn with the same cab, bed, drive and V-6 costs $565 more at launch. But the Warlock's EPA rating trails the
other V-6 4x4s, so compare the two before you decide.
Laramie
Laramie pairs the 3.0L Hurricane twin-turbo with a five-seat Crew Cab, and it's the only trim above the three work
trims offered as a 4x2. Choose it if you want the twin-turbo in a higher trim and don't need the Rebel's towing.
Rebel
Rebel is the 1500 to buy for heavy trailers, with the highest towing rating of any build Ram lists. Ram offers it only
as a short-bed Crew Cab with 4x4, and it uses the 3.0L Hurricane twin-turbo. It seats six, and choosing the optional
bucket seats makes it a five-seater.
Limited and Limited Longhorn
Limited and Limited Longhorn both put the High-Output 3.0L in a five-seat Crew Cab 4x4, and they're the only
High-Output trims with the 6'4" bed. The long bed adds $300 at launch on either one, and the Longhorn's launch price
sits $495 above the Limited with the same bed.
Tungsten
Tungsten is a five-seat short-bed Crew Cab 4x4 with the High-Output 3.0L, and it's the highest-priced 1500 short of
the TRX. Ram lists a smaller bed volume for it than for other 5'7" beds, so factor that in if you haul bulky loads.
RHO and TRX
RHO and TRX are both five-seat Crew Cab 4x4s on the 5'7" bed, with a wider body than the other Crew Cabs. The RHO uses
the High-Output 3.0L, while the TRX gets a supercharged 6.2L V-8 and costs $25,000 more at launch.
Which Trim Fits You
Match the trim to the job:
Fleet and job-site work: Tradesman
A family on a budget: a Big Horn Crew Cab
Heavy trailers: Rebel
The High-Output engine with a long bed: Limited or Limited Longhorn
A supercharged V-8: TRX
Cabs and Beds
The three cab-and-bed builds set the truck's length, bed and back-seat room.

The RHO and TRX run 233.7 inches long on a 145.1-inch wheelbase and measure 88.0 inches wide, against 81.2 inches for
the other Crew Cabs. For the Tungsten's 5'7" bed, Ram lists 40.6 cubic feet rather than the volume in the table.
Pick the cab and bed by who rides along and where the truck parks.
Quad Cab, 6'4" bed: the long bed in a truck about 13 inches shorter than the Crew Cab version, handy in a tight
garage.
Crew Cab, 5'7" bed: nearly 10 more inches of rear legroom than the Quad Cab, for adults who ride in back.
Crew Cab, 6'4" bed: the long bed and the roomy back seat together, in the longest 1500 Ram lists.

Ram's Stated Maximums
Ram states up to 11,530 lb of towing "when properly equipped with the 3.0L Hurricane engine" and up to 2,340 lb of
payload "when properly equipped with the 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine." Those maximums apply to specially equipped trucks,

Owning One in Central Indiana
Central Indiana winters bring cold, snow and salted roads, which makes 4x4 worth weighing even on a work truck, and
seven of the eleven 1500 trims come only as 4x4s. Salt is hard on a truck's finish, too, which is where our

Frequently Asked Questions
Launch MSRP starts at $42,575 for a Tradesman Quad Cab 4x2 and reaches $99,995 for the TRX, excluding the $2,795
destination fee. On every trim that offers both drives, 4x4 adds $3,400 at launch.
Ram lists the 305-hp 3.6L V-6 on the Warlock and on Tradesman, Express and Big Horn Quad Cabs and short-bed Crew
Cabs. The 420-hp 3.0L Hurricane comes on those three trims' long-bed Crew Cabs, the Laramie and the Rebel. The
540-hp High-Output version comes on the Limited, Limited Longhorn, Tungsten and RHO, and the TRX gets a 777-hp
supercharged 6.2L V-8.
Towing across Ram's listed builds runs from 6,370 lb for the V-6 short-bed Crew Cab 4x4s to 11,140 lb for the
Rebel. Ram also states up to 11,530 lb of towing when properly equipped with the 3.0L Hurricane engine and up to
2,340 lb of payload when properly equipped with the 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine. Those are ceilings for specially
equipped trucks, not ratings for a listed build.
Yes, Ram offers the 5.7L HEMI V8 as an option on the 1500, and we'll confirm which 2027 trims can be ordered
with it. The TRX uses a different V-8, a supercharged 6.2L.
EPA estimates range from 22 mpg combined for the 3.6L V-6 with rear-wheel drive to 12 mpg combined for the TRX's
supercharged 6.2L.
For work, start with a Tradesman. Its long-bed Crew Cab adds the 420-hp 3.0L Hurricane, rated to tow 8,320 lb as
a 4x2. For a family, choose a Crew Cab, whose 45.2 inches of rear legroom beats the Quad Cab's 35.6 inches.
Tradesman and Warlock seat six. Express, Big Horn and Rebel seat up to six, or five with optional bucket seats,
and the other trims seat five.
NHTSA's 2027 ratings give the Quad Cab 5 stars overall and the Crew Cab 4 stars overall, and the RHO and TRX are
not rated. Adaptive cruise control and Blind-spot Monitoring are standard on every trim.
Every trim carries Ram's 36-month/36,000-mile basic limited warranty. Ask us to confirm the 2027 powertrain
warranty terms before you buy.
Buy the 1500 if your trailers and loads fit its ratings. Ram's stated towing maximum for it is 11,530 lb when
properly equipped with the 3.0L Hurricane engine. Step up to the heavy-duty 2500 if you often pull or haul heavy
loads. Ram states a 20,000 lb maximum available diesel towing capacity for the 2027 Ram 2500 and up to 4,580 lb
of payload with the gas engine. Ram lists two engines for its heavy-duty trucks: a 6.4L HEMI V8 and a 6.7L
Cummins diesel, with maximum diesel figures of 430 hp and 1,075 lb-ft. Ask us for pricing on a 2500, and
