2023 Jeep Compass vs 2023 Kia Seltos

2023 Jeep Compass vs 2023 Kia Seltos

Kia has been trying to compete with class leaders like Jeep in the compact SUV sector, and the Seltos is their newest attempt. How does the 2023 Kia Seltos compare to the 2023 Jeep Compass? Let's find out.

What's New This Year?

The Kia Seltos hits showrooms with new standard safety features at the base level as well as improved noise reduction in the cabin. By comparison, the Compass offers a more powerful base engine with all-wheel drive standard across the range, and additional safety features right from the base level. In this area, the Compass gives you more for your money in terms of upgrades.

Performance and Powertrain

The Jeep Compass hits showroom floors this year with a 2.0-liter turbo inline-four engine that generates 200 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive across the range. The Kia Seltos offers only a four-cylinder engine (not turbocharged) that gives a mere 146 horsepower with a continuously variable transmission. It simply can't hold up to the Compass.

Base Safety Features

The 2023 Jeep Compass comes with front collision warning and crash mitigation, lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alerts, a drowsy driver warning system, and a back-seat reminder that lets you know if you left something (or someone) in the back. The Seltos offers similar features, but instead of a back-seat reminder, you get automatic high beams. It's a toss-up which you'll like better. In the end, the Jeep Compass offers more new features and a better engine. It's the superior choice.
